Conhecido por seu trabalho como flautista na banda Móveis
Coloniais de Acaju, que anunciou recentemente uma pausa em suas atividades,
Beto traz no currículo apresentações ao lado de nomes como Lenine, Hamilton de
Holanda e outros. Se lançar em uma experiência solo foi uma maneira de dar
forma a criações mais pessoais, mais íntimas, mais próximas do peito. Foi daí
que veio “Abraço”, trabalho que lançou em 2012. Já o álbum “Wahyoob” e, em
especial, o single “Kaningawá”, vêm de uma outra perspectiva, de experimentações
e descobertas, mas sem abrir mão do formato canção.
O que “Kaningawá” significa, ninguém pode dizer. O
neologismo veio em sonho, um devaneio noturno que virou canção e agora ganha
vida no novo single de Beto Mejía. Pode até ser que “Kaningawá” não tenha um
sentido estrito, mas para o cantor, compositor e instrumentista a música sopra
novos ares de uma renovação sonora. Nessa troca de pele, Beto abre mão de seu
lado introspectivo, que ganhou força no EP “Abraço”, e se redescobre em uma
aura mais solar e plural. O novo single vem para anunciar o próximo lançamento
de Beto Mejía: o álbum “Wahyoob”, previsto para novembro.

“Quis conduzir a construção da música com elementos com que
ainda não tinha intimidade, como synths e polirritmia. Foi um excelente estudo
e aprendizado. Esse disco é mais um passo pra buscar identidade como compositor
e para criar ferramentas de sensibilização, sempre no intuito de fazer as
pessoas se sentirem melhor. Confesso que pensei muito no axé da Bahia em
diversas músicas, e Kaningawá foi a primeira que compus para o disco dentro
dessa perspectiva. Como juntar grooves de macumba, guitarras indie e melodias a
la Beach Boys e Beatles? Essa foi minha intenção”, revela o compositor.
Por ser a mais contagiante do disco e uma das faixas mais
alegres e motivadoras de “Wahyoob”, ela vem carregada de referências de vida,
amores e vontades do próprio autor. Mais que uma música de transição entre
espectros criativos bastante diferentes, “Kaningawá” diz logo a que veio: fazer
sorrir, cantar, dançar.
“Ela representa a minha vontade de uma energia mais colorida
e tropical. Essa canção busca trazer o ouvinte para um nível energético que as
canções do outro trabalho solo não alcançavam. A instrumentação e temática da
letra foram pensadas para isso. Estou encarando essa canção, nesse novo momento
da minha carreira, como um passo para o aprendizado do desconhecido. Se ela
fosse um livro, seria Capitães de Areia. Se fosse uma novela, Tieta. Se fosse
um barulho, o do vento nas ondas do mar”, define Beto.
Para estabelecer de vez essa identidade plural, o título
chegou via subconsciente, durante um sonho em que sua filha, à época ainda não
nascida, ditava a palavra misteriosa. “Sentia que ali precisava de um termo
forte, que por si só resumisse o que a letra da música diz. Nada melhor do que
o nosso inconsciente botar pra fora o que ainda não temos a simplicidade pra
verbalizar”, completa.

O single ganhou forma com uma gama de sons além dos
instrumentos mais familiares a Beto, que estudou piano, flauta doce, canto e
graduou-se em flauta transversal na Escola de Música de Brasília. Aqui, ele
assumiu a produção da faixa ao lado de Kelton Gomes, com quem divide os
créditos por baixos e guitarras na música. Também participam os sopros que o
acompanharam durante anos no Móveis: Esdras Nogueira (sax barítono) e Paulo Rogério
(sax tenor). Completam o time Anderson Nigro (bateria); Jefferson Pimpão
(trombone); e Thiago de Lima Cruz (percussão). A mixagem e masterização ficou a
cargo de Xande Bursztyn.
“Wahyoob”, o novo disco de Beto Mejía, chega aos serviços de
streaming em 04/11.
