Trazendo um som alternativo e psicodélico
a banda de rock carioca surgiu no colégio de técnico em Química do maracanã, o
antigo Cefeteq. Onde Big, Juca, Anderson e Octavio se conheceram e decidiram
formar a Cafe Republica no final do ano de 2010. Em 2011 começaram a
desenvolver efetivamente o projeto da banda, juntando os gostos mútuos pelo
mesmo estilo e a veia musical. O primeiro trabalho “Sweet Dive in Turtle Land”,
veio em 2014 já trazendo uma identidade e uma vertente musical. Recentemente a
banda lançou “Ludere Occultant”, um EP que prossegue com o som alternativo e revolucionário,
não perdendo a identidade do primeiro trabalho, mas se inovando e apresentando
novos recortes musicais.
BANG3 - De onde surgiu o nome ‘Cafe
Republica’?
CAFE REPUBLICA - O nome surgiu de uma viagem do
Anderson. A gente não tinha ideia qual seria o nome da banda e um belo dia
Anderson surgiu com a Cafe Republica. A história é que ele sempre passava por
um ligar chamado Republica Cafe no centro da cidade, e um belo dia deu o estalo
de inverter aquilo pq ia ficar um baita nome. Daí surgiu nosso primeiro e
último nome.
BANG3 - O rock do Cafe Republica, é
definido como psicodélico, como foi a aceitação do público com esse estilo
musical?
CAFE REPUBLICA - Na verdade já existe um público,
um nicho, digamos, para esse tipo de música. Não nos preocupamos muito em
rotulagem especificamente nesse sentido. Não fomos sempre “psicodélicos” e
sempre estamos nos redescobrindo na natureza do som. No momento pode-se dizer
que somos bastante psicodélicos até. De certo modo, pelo fato de termos
influências de vários gêneros musicais, o resultado final é bem bacana e a
aceitação do público é muito boa, independente de como a música se processa,
falando especificamente da aceitação de um gênero em si. Ou seja, a aceitação
do público costuma ser boa (pelo menos aos nossos olhos rs) para as nossas
músicas, inclusive nesse reconhecimento “psicodélico” do que estamos fazendo
musicalmente no momento.

BANG3 - A banda conta com várias
composições autorais, na hora de compor, o que mais inspiram vocês?
CAFE REPUBLICA - Como já falamos em algumas
entrevistas anteriores, a inspiração vem de muitos lugares diferentes. Vem
desde a música que você ouve num dia qualquer até o livro que você leu
recentemente. Há influências das experiências musicais de cada um no processo,
o modo como enxergamos a banda como um todo, a veia poética que vem sendo
estimulada desde quando mais novos, a vasta influência musical (como já citamos
Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, Beatles, Novos Baianos, Mutantes, etc), o sentimento
musical de cada integrante, os insights durante os ensaios. A leveza do
encontro semanal que temos também ajuda bastante no processo, já que todos são
grandes amigos e isso, essa sinergia, auxilia muito no processo.
BANG3 - Qual a diferença entre o EP
antecessor ‘Sweet Dive in Turtle Land’ e o atual EP ‘Ludere Occultant’?
CAFE REPUBLICA - O Sweet Dive foi o nosso primeiro
EP, que tratamos com muito carinho. Como o nome diz, tem algo de mais adocicado
nas composições, mais melódico, porém como um mergulho profundo no que a música
pode te proporcionar; como se fosse algo prazeroso de mergulhar e se sentir
leve e absorto por uma boa energia. Já o segundo EP é mais misterioso, que
aguça mais os sentidos. Que sugerimos que o ouvinte reconheça relações entre o
visual e o auditivo, relações entre o auditivo e o sensorial e, porque não,
entre o visual e o sensorial? É um trabalho com muito mais associações. De todo
modo, o que nos deixa grato é saber que alguém está ouvindo a gente e, sem
problema nenhum, criando suas próprias interpretações, pois, a final de contas,
a música é isso. É o que ela pode te fazer sentir. O que consideramos nesse
segundo EP é isso, um trabalho em que as sensações são bastante intensas.
BANG3 - O Ep ‘Ludere Occultant’
reafirma o rock psicodélico da banda, como foi o momento de produção?
CAFE REPUBLICA - O momento de produção foi muito
intenso, prazeroso e gratificante. Cada momento de música tocada, clipe
filmado, conversa trocada, foi único. Como disse anteriormente, a sinergia é um
grande ponto que consideramos. Enquanto estamos reunidos, estamos presentes
naquele momento, querendo dar o melhor de si, não para si, mas para o
todo.

BANG3 - Sabemos que a construção do
novo EP foi feita pelo quinteto, quais foram os melhores momentos do processo e
qual foi o mais difícil?
CAFE REPUBLICA - Os melhores momentos de produção
foram os citados anteriormente, além dos momentos do ensaio fotográfico, com
agradecimentos à Luisa Mascarenhas fotografia. De todo modo isso acrescenta
muito nas experiências que tivemos e temos musicalmente, sendo capazes de lidar
com desafios maiores. O momento talvez mais atribulado do processo foi pós
produção, no sentido do detalhamento de mixagens e confecção dos CD’s físicos.
Gostaríamos mais uma vez aqui deixar o agradecimento à artista Carol Munhoz por
atuar em toda a parte do Design do CD (imagens, diagramação, enfim).
BANG3 - O trabalho de vocês está na
internet e de forma gratuita, contar com a internet como maior forma de
divulgação é um grande avanço para vocês como músicos?
CAFE REPUBLICA - De certo que sim. Sempre
enxergamos a internet como um meio de comunicação muito amplo e interessante
para divulgação.

BANG3 - É possível notar o
desenvolvimento do grupo por meio de acordes com mudanças de ritmo inesperadas
e letras simples e profundas. Gostaríamos de saber qual será o futuro musical
da banda? Vocês estão sempre compondo?
CAFE REPUBLICA - Sim. Estamos sempre compondo. Já
tiveram muitas músicas que não foram pra frente, mas entendemos que isso faz
parte do processo. É natural. Fazemos muitas “jams” e alguns trechos de músicas
e muitas vezes uma música nasce desses momentos de descontração. As mudanças
inesperadas sempre estiveram presentes, é algo que nos identificamos. Apesar
disso, também prezamos e gostamos de músicas que não tem esse tipo de
configuração. O futuro musical está intenso, com projetos em andamento.

BANG3 - Ultimamente muitas bandas
estão começando a se arriscarem no mundo da música independente, vocês teriam
algum conselho para essas pessoas?
CAFE REPUBLICA - Tal qual começamos fazendo covers
e depois enveredamos para a composição autoral, se pudermos dar algum conselho
no sentido musical é sempre querer melhorar e fazer algo que lhe dê prazer. Não
queremos dizer que sempre se deve estar insatisfeito com o trabalho, longe
disso. Mas sempre procurar novas formas de se expressar. Isso é saudável. Sair
da zona de conforto é saudável, pois a experiência adquirida é enorme.
